Native
America Culture Comes to Life! |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Imagine
America in
its unspoiled state - the land of a young Cherokee. Through his eyes
we witness the great myths and legends of early Native American life.
 |
|
|
|
|
Here
are the stories of the
Underground Panther and the Great Thunderbird. Our hero, Chosen One,
must meet and do battle with these traditional foes. |
|

Each
legend has been thoroughly
researched at the Qualla Cherokee Boundary in North Carolina and is
told with reverence for the Cherokee culture.

Audience
participation in Young Cherokee
is particularly meaningful: children learn authentic Native American
sign language and learn to speak key words of the authentic Cherokee
tongue. (Words and gestures suggested in the script, author will also
supply references for more thorough study.) The children attend and
participate in a Cherokee tribe session.
The
use of a simple but powerful drum enhances performances. |

|
Young
Cherokee is an excellent adjunct
to any project concerning Native Americans. Students of history and
culture will find oral readings or performances will bring them a
deeper understanding of Native American culture.

"We
produced Young Cherokee last fall and
it was very well received. I appreciated the additional information
you provided; Study Guide material about Native Americans and
Cherokees. I worked with a full-blooded Cherokee from Oklahoma who
teaches the Cherokee language at Haskill Indian Nations University in
Lawrence, KS. He was much impressed with the production."
